Christina's Grooming has been the trusted name for pet parents across Vernon Township and the surrounding NJ Highlands since opening its doors on Route 94. What started as Christina's passion for making every dog and cat look and feel their best has grown into a full-service salon where wagging tails and contented purrs are the daily soundtrack. Located at 246 NJ-94, the bright, airy space welcomes pets of every breed and temperament with patience, skill, and genuine affection. From wriggly puppies experiencing their first haircut to senior dogs needing extra-gentle handling, the team treats each animal as an individual. Owners appreciate the honest communication, flexible scheduling, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing their pets are in caring, capable hands. It's more than grooming—it's a neighborhood ritual where four-legged family members leave looking sharp and feeling loved.

What We Offer

Christina's offers complete grooming packages tailored to your pet's breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Signature services include breed-specific haircuts, luxurious oatmeal and hypoallergenic baths, nail trims with styptic care, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and deshedding treatments that reduce shedding at home. Puppies and seniors receive extra-gentle handling, while anxious pets benefit from calm, one-on-one attention in a low-stress environment. Add-on luxuries like blueberry facial scrubs, paw soaks, and conditioning treatments leave coats silky and smelling fresh. Walk-in nail trims are available for established clients, and the team happily works with special needs, matted coats, and double-coated breeds common in the Highlands region.

"Literally made an appointment for my puppy to be groomed first thing and had to bring my 2yr old. The receptionist failed to inform me they could not groom my puppy over the phone due to him not having rabies vaccine yet. I was unaware, and I know I mentioned to the receptionist his DOB and his current vaccinations. Horrible service, need to be trained better. And not waste clients time. Not to mention the whole time the “owner” is talking to me she’s looking down at her phone. Horrible horrible service wouldn’t return"

"I brought my dog in to be groomed, they cut one of his nails half the size of the others and he bled for 2 days. I usually would not leave a review because I know things happen, but I called back after 2 days (this happened over Christmas so they were closed and I couldn’t call earlier) and the owner acted as if I were lying and there was no way they could have done it. I called to see if there was maybe something they use that could stop the bleeding, but the way the owner responded was so unprofessional, I will not be returning with either of my dogs."

"I couldn’t be happier with the haircut Christina and her team gave to my beautiful Lilah! I’m beyond thrilled with everything—from the quality of the cut to the exceptional care they showed her. Christina and her staff are such wonderful, kind-hearted people who made Lilah feel like she was treated with the utmost love and care. This place and its team are truly special, and I couldn’t recommend them more!"

"We could not be ANY happier about our Bernese Mountain dog's first experience with Christina's....I think we have officially found our new groomer! Not only did he look better than we have ever seen him before (so nicely trimmed, neat and shiny, not to mention how nice he felt), he seemed calm, content and happy. We recently left our groomer of more than 10 years and it was always a very stressful experience for him, so we were so worried about sending him not only to the groomer, but a new one at that. Apparently they all gushed over him when he first got there and made him feel comfortable and, considering how anxious a dog he typically is, that is huge. Many thanks to all who took care of him!"

"Christina and her staff are absolutely amazing! I recommend everyone I know to her because she is the best. My dog is always SO happy to go visit his “friends” and comes home looking and smelling perfect. I was so nervous to get him groomed because he can be a handful but they handle and care for him as if he was their own. We now book appointments for every few weeks!!! Couldn’t recommend them enough!!! Thank you Christina (:"

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?

Appointments are strongly recommended, especially for full grooms. Same-day or next-day slots are often available for nail trims and quick touch-ups—call ahead to check.

How long does a typical grooming appointment take?

Most dogs are finished in 2–4 hours depending on size, coat condition, and services requested. Puppies and small breeds are often done faster; thick double coats or heavily matted dogs may take longer.

What if my dog is anxious or has never been groomed?

Christina's team excels with nervous pets. They use calm handling, short breaks, and positive reinforcement. First-time grooming often includes extra time and a slower pace to build trust.

Do you groom cats too?

Yes! Christina's grooms both cats and dogs. Cat services include gentle baths, lion cuts, sanitary trims, and nail caps. We recommend bringing cats in carriers and advise scheduling during quieter hours.

What should I bring to my pet's first appointment?

Just your pet and any special instructions. Vaccination records help us stay informed. If your dog has allergies or sensitivities, please mention them when booking so we can choose the right products.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most dogs benefit from professional grooming every 4–8 weeks. Double-coated breeds and dogs with longer hair may need visits every 4 weeks, while short-coated dogs can often wait 6–8 weeks.
